Panos will be serving as Executive Director of Clinic Operations after 2 years on the board as Associate Director of Managers. His goals for the year are to increase clinic efficiency, scope, and deepen connections for HOMES with the broader homeless care community in Houston. A personal interest of his is revamping the current Health Advocate position to integrate with other health and social care organizations in Houston. He served as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow the year prior creating a blueprint to incorporate technology into the delivery of these services at HOMES. Efforts currently in place are focusing on improving the workflow of the clinic by improving the clinic note, updating patient paperwork, and streamlining clinical operations to increase patient volume. He is excited to work alongside a strong and dedicated Operations team to improve the care to patients and enhance the HOMES volunteer experience.

In his role, Colton hopes to increase our ability to serve more patients and increase the number of volunteers we can have in clinic every weekend. Additionally, he hopes to help grow the health advocate program and better equip our volunteers to deliver social resources to our patients, further addressing barriers to their good health. Ultimately, he believes that ensuring HOMES Clinic patients get and stay connected to their healthcare needs is paramount. Colton began volunteering at HOMES Clinic early on during medical school and quickly saw the opportunity that HOMES provides to its patients. He values being able to serve the underserved and misrepresented population of people experiencing homelessness while also learning alongside students from multiple partner institutions.

Michael will be continuing his role as Executive Director of Internal Affairs for the next year. He hopes to broaden the reach of the clinic and further strengthen the relationship between the HOMES student board and the larger HHH organization. By continuing to work with the Internal Affairs team he hopes to build upon prior events such as the health fairs and vaccine drives, formalize the application process for projects involving HOMES, increase the funding opportunities available to HOMES, and continue to grow advocacy efforts to create lasting change in the Houston community. Finally, he hopes to further engage HOMES alumni through the creation of an alumni network to ensure that former students can continue giving back to HOMES following their graduation. He is very excited to help lead such an amazing team of Associate Directors and work with them to improve the organization!

In her role, Chelsea aims to continuously improve clinic workflow to deliver quality care to patients at HOMES and provide an enriching educational experience for students every Sunday. She hopes to implement changes that will equip students and clients with much-needed resources and services longitudinally. Upon entering medical school, Chelsea began volunteering at HOMES Clinic as a way to bring her interest in serving underserved populations experiencing homelessness to life in an environment that encourages learning and growth.

In her role, Lauren hopes to continue to grow the large-scale events that serve those experiencing homelessness in Houston. She hopes to increase the number of community partners at the semi-annual health fairs and to expand the patient reach and scope of the vaccine drive. In her career as a physician, she hopes to continue working with her community to provide care for underserved populations.

In her new role as AD of Manager Operations, Sarah is dedicated to optimizing the clinic experience for both patients and volunteers. Having volunteered in multiple roles for the HOMES Clinic and previously serving on the board as the BCM Representative, Sarah is especially excited about overseeing the managerial aspect of the clinic. The manager’s position uniquely connects the volunteers each Sunday and has a special opportunity to positively impact the experience for all clients and volunteers. In addition to enhancing manager operations, Sarah looks forward to supporting the board with various upcoming and ongoing initiatives.

In his role, Aditya hopes to build upon the current manager training process and serve as a pillar of support for managers when in clinic. His favorite part of HOMES is talking to the patients and helping them feel truly heard. In his experience, everyone including the attendings, managers, and volunteers, have been really passionate about making an impact, which makes him even more excited to join the Board and contribute to their efforts.

Annie serves as the senior liaison between HOMES Clinic and UHCOP, where she is dedicated to expanding the roles of pharmacists. She coordinates student pharmacist volunteers at HOMES Clinic, ensuring the delivery of pharmacist-led services to the unhoused population in Greater Houston. Annie's passion lies in advocating for the pharmacy profession and increasing public awareness of the positive therapeutic outcomes resulting from pharmacist interventions.

My passion lies in helping our community's underserved populations and I am eager to involve more pharmacy students in promoting health equity. My experience serving at HOMES was both fulfilling and humbling, offering a unique perspective on healthcare and the opportunity to devise meaningful, innovative solutions tailored to individual challenges. As a representative, my goals are to enhance the learning experience for students at HOMES and to improve the quality of care provided to the underserved populations we serve. He first heard about HOMES as an MS1 and immediately knew it was an organization of which he wanted to be a part. Volunteering there more and more, he quickly realized that his goal and HOMES's mission were one and the same.

In her role, Becca aims to improve volunteer preparedness and satisfaction in order to preserve and promote the delivery of high-quality care. Since college, Becca has been a volunteer EMT. Through this experience, she has observed the distinct needs of the unhoused population. Thus, she was drawn to HOMES’ holistic approach to providing comprehensive medical care while also connecting patients with appropriate social resources. This year, Becca hopes to guide evidence-based improvements that provide feasible, long-term benefits. Specifically, she aims to strengthen volunteer understanding of available social resources and clinic capabilities/structure to achieve greater efficiency and improve patient/volunteer satisfaction.

In her role, Abby is looking forward to partnering with local businesses in the community to increase awareness of the HOMES clinic and bring different organizations together around a common cause. She plans to support both the numerous volunteers and patients that the clinic serves by increasing funding, bringing in new technology, and collaborating with other members of the board to better serve our patients and the community.

Hannah serves as the liaison between HOMES and BCM, working to increase engagement and spread information about the HOMES clinic and its mission. During her undergraduate career, Hannah worked to rebuild student volunteer roles after the COVID-19 pandemic at “Feed my People”, a non-profit that provides free breakfast, showers, and laundry services to unhoused people in Austin. As representative, she hopes to connect students with resources and new skills as we learn how to better care for underserved populations through the Street Medicine lecture series.

Zuha serves as the liaison between HOMES and UT Health. She connects students to volunteering opportunities at HOMES Clinic and motivates students to advance holistic care for underserved populations. Zuha also plans the HOMES Street Medicine lecture series featuring physicians and community leaders who provide insights on homeless health and advocacy beyond the clinic. Through this role, Zuha aims to serve both patients and their future physicians, helping students integrate health equity into their daily medical practice, regardless of the specialty they pursue. Her dream is to be an advocate both within and outside the clinic, delivering healthcare and education that provide lasting benefits to patients beyond a single visit.

Mathew Mendoza is a second-year medical student at Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Houston. Mathew has extensive work experience, having served as an EMT, Community Health Worker, and Crisis Intervention Specialist for Harris County's unhoused population. His extracurricular interests include policymaking and researching ways to increase equity for the underserved.

In her role, Sonali hopes to continue planning and executing various projects aimed at enhancing the services our clinic offers to those experiencing homelessness in Houston. Specifically, she intends to collaborate with clinic leadership to incorporate a smoking cessation program and a wound care program into the services HOMES already offers. Through implementation of these projects, she hopes to better serve the clinic patient population and make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community.

In her role, Michelle hopes to encourage health advocacy among volunteers at the HOMES clinic by raising awareness of the position, increasing the resources that are offered by the services included in the position, and constantly integrating feedback from her own experiences in the position as well as others to improve the quality of the resources that are provided by the health advocates. Through volunteering as a health advocate, Michelle believes social resources are as crucial to benefiting the unhoused population of Houston as medical resources and should be provided to the best of the HOMES clinic's abilities through work that will be continuously improved upon and optimized for the greatest patient care.
