signing-up for a shift

Be on the lookouts for sign-ups, which are released via listserv by your HOMES Representative at 12:00pm on the 20th of every month.

before your shift

  1. Watch the Health Advocate Training video & review these instructions to familiarize yourself with the role & HOMES Clinic before your first day.

  2. Check your email the week of your shift for your manager’s name and contact information. Call them when you arrive and they will let you in through the gate on San Jacinto Street.

for your shift

  1. Arrive based on your role. The day starts at:

    • 7:30am for managers/MiTs

    • 7:45am for pre-clinical students & clinical students

    • 8:30am for health advocates

  2. Free parking is available at the Episcopal Church parking garage on 511 San Jacinto St, Houston, TX 77002, located between Texas Av & Prairie St directly across from the Episcopal Church.

  3. Current policy prohibits advocates from being in The Beacon alone during their shifts; advocates should always be in the space with other advocates or an accompanying MiT/manager.
